About our Antioch flooring contractor company

How I got into floor coatings

I spent my first working years at a desk, then left to learn floor coatings from an installer here in East Contra Costa. In 2013 I started Sterling Antioch Concrete Coatings in Antioch. I still come out to do the estimates myself, and then I run the job with our crew.

Most of our calls come from homeowners, shop owners and property managers who want someone to check the slab before anyone talks about colors. That's the part I care about most, because any floor looks good the day it's done. I judge our garage and epoxy floors by how they hold up, and that comes down to the testing and prep nobody sees. I also judge us by how we leave your space, so we grind with dust collection and keep wash water contained. If a question can't be settled by looking, I'll tell you I'd want to test it first.

Licenses that apply to floor work in Antioch

  • California contractor license

The state licensing board requires a contractor's license for any job that needs a building permit, uses any additional workers, or costs $1,000 or more in labor and materials, counted across every contract on the project. Ask any contractor you're thinking of hiring about it before they start. Our answer is short. Licensed and insured.

  • City of Antioch business license

The City of Antioch requires a current business license from everyone doing business in the city, and that includes subcontractors. If a crew you're considering brings in outside help, those helpers fall under the same rule.

What you can count on from us

  • We check your slab before we talk colors

We test your slab and get the prep right before any coating goes down, because that's what decides whether a floor holds. If your floor isn't a good fit for what you want, I'll tell you plainly, even when that means a smaller job for us.

  • The person who looks at your floor runs the job

I come out, look at the floor and write the estimate, and then I run the work with our crew. Nothing gets lost between what we talked about in your garage and what happens on the day we start.

  • A written estimate that shows what you're paying for

We look at the slab and ask how you use the space, and then your written estimate spells out the prep, the testing and the coating system. It's free and there's no obligation, so you can read it over and decide on your own time.
